The day started with a lovely transition from Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania. The destination? Nyerere National Park and Rufiji River Camp – and yes, we flew in a safari plane! Upon arrival at the charming "dirt strip," a short drive to the camp awaited us. There's no doubt now – we are in the heart of the bush!
As soon as I arrived at Rufiji River Camp, I knew this place would be something special. Nestled on the banks of the Rufiji River in the heart of Nyerere National Park, this camp truly captures the wild spirit of Tanzania. The camp's rustic charm, surrounded by the untouched beauty of the bush, offers an experience like no other.
As the dhow glided across the calm waters, I had a perfect view of Stone Town rising in the distance. The city's historic skyline, dotted with minarets and ancient buildings, stood in stark contrast to the vibrant blue of the Indian Ocean.
